Imagine not having to shave, shave with wax or tweezers, ever again. The solution? Photoepilation with pulsed light. Here we leave some frequent questions that our patients ask us.

How does IPL energy eliminate hair?

A highly controlled light (IPL) is selectively absorbed by the hair follicles that are located below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair and destroys the potential growth capacity of the follicle. All without damaging the surrounding tissue.

How is the treatment?

A transparent gel is spread in the treatment area, previously depilated (it is recommended to pass the blade about 24 hours before the session). Then, with a handpiece, the light pulses that begin to remove the hairs are applied to the skin. The rest of the hair in the treated area will fall in a few days.

What do you feel during the treatment?

Each pulse of light is perceived as a slight peck or pinch. Local anesthesia is not necessary and most people tolerate treatment well. Can all hair be treated? The unique design of the IPL offers a treatment adapted according to the hair color, texture, and body area. Any hair with at least some pigment (black, brown and red) can be treated effectively. White and blond hairs do not leave with any type of laser.

Is the IPL safe for all skin types?

The IPL is the first approved photodepilation procedure to effectively treat unwanted hair in most skin types, but the main indication is in white-skinned people.

Is there any possible side effect?

Some redness may appear, but it disappears in a few hours. Occasionally, the skin may darken (if exposed to the sun) or lighten after treatment (when the skin is more pigmented than usual) but will return to normal within a few weeks. Sun exposure should be limited before and after each treatment, to minimize the risk of complications. After treatment, you can return to work and your usual activities immediately.

What results can I expect?

IPL technology has proven very effective in achieving permanent hair reduction in all skin types, the number of treatments needed depends on several factors related to your specific type of hair and skin. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology offers a refined non-invasive solution to unwanted hair on the face, back, legs, English or any other part of the body. IPL photoepilation has been carried out safely for many years, effectively removing unwanted hair.

Is it appropriate for you?
