The retention of fluids in the body is due to different causes, in a relatively young woman, the most frequent is due to an alteration in the lymphatic and blood system that hinders the circulatory return, due to a metabolic disorder (hormonal, nutritional, sedentary, medication, etc.), other causes are due to heart, liver, kidney disease. Swelling in the legs, ankles, hands, fatigue and even weight gain can be observed.

At present, there are several treatments that favor the elimination of liquids, but before opting for one, CIME Clinic advises to go to the doctor, who will ask you several questions, a physical examination and, according to the doctor's criteria, performing complementary tests to rule out any disease associated with fluid retention. In the event that fluid retention has the cause of circulatory return (lymphatic and blood system), we recommend the following:

Diet

Food is key to fluid retention. To avoid it it is important to reduce the consumption of salt in the diet, not to consume sausages and smoked products due to their high salt content; Do not boil the food because it acquires a percentage of water that could then remain in the body, choose to cook grilled, wok or steamed.

Physical exercise

As for the exercise, we recommend swimming and aquagym (exercises in the water), bike with little resistance and if you can not perform these exercises, we recommend walking fast for about 30-45 minutes 3 times a week at least.

Massage - lymphatic drainage

Lymphatic drainage massage is used in aesthetic medicine and cosmeatry. It can be performed locally or throughout the body. They are very soft, superficial manual massages to activate the lymphatic and blood system, also produce relaxation.

Pressotherapy

Pressotherapy is a type of apparatus used in both aesthetic medicine and physiotherapy. Used for circulatory disorders and varicose pathologies. It consists of ascending compressions given by a pants-shaped sheath or boots that exert external pressure on the body, causing increased circulation of the fluid retained into the lymphatic and blood vessels, eliminating the fluid.

Other positive effects derived from the pressotherapy are the elimination of cellulite and the limitation of contours caused by poor circulation or diet, reducing the volume of the treated area and also producing a feeling of relaxation and well-being.
