Rhinoplasty or Nose Surgery is one of the most common plastic surgery treatments because it causes various psychological disorders. This is because its development occurs at the beginning of adolescence, at which point an aesthetic problem is more difficult to assume.

With this surgical intervention, we will achieve an improvement in facial harmony because nasal deformations are corrected, either to modify its shape, reduce or increase the size, reduce the opening of the nostrils, correct injuries or relieve respiratory problems. Each case is unique and must be assessed individually.

To perform this operation it is recommended to wait until the nose bone has finished growing and that happens in women over 14-15 years and men a few years later.

As in any plastic surgery intervention, the previous medical examination is essential to rule out any anomaly that contraindicates the operation.

It can be done with local anesthesia, which consists of sedating the patient but is awake or general anesthesia that allows you to sleep throughout the operation. There are also two ways to perform it, the most common is closed rhinoplasty that, through a cut inside the nostrils, the surgeon carves, shapes the bones and cartilage giving the desired shape to the nose and without any visible external scar. The other way is open rhinoplasty that is advised in more complex and more difficult surgeries that leaves a small scar but it is very difficult to appreciate it.

In the event that what we want is to increase and not decrease, grafts are used with tissues of the patient to shape or support the nose.

It is not a painful post-operative but it leaves the operating room with some purple and a plug in the nose, we will also wear a plastic splint outside the nose to help the new form be preserved and we will remove it more or less a week. Once this time has elapsed we can return to our usual rhythm.
